GANS Nightingale Pledge
I solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly to
faithfully practice my profession of nursing. I will do all in my power to make and
maintain the highest standards and practices of my profession.
I will hold in confidence all personal matters committed to my keeping in the
practice of my calling. I will assist the patient care team and will devote myself to
the welfare of my patients, my family, and my community.
I will endeavor to fulfill my rights and privileges as a good citizen and take my share
of the responsibility in promoting the health and welfare of the community.
I will constantly endeavor to increase my knowledge and skills in nursing and to use
them wisely. I will zealously seek to nurse those who are ill wherever they may be
and whenever they are in need.
I will be active in assisting others in safeguarding and promoting the health and
happiness of mankind.

GANS Convention

Mark it on your calendar and come prepared for an exciting convention!

This year’s convention will take place in Athens, GA at the Athens Classic         Center.
·
It will be held from October 15 through the 18, 2009.

Some costs for you to know that will help you be ready financially:
·
GANS registration (deadline to pre-register is September 17, 2009): $75.00.
·
NSNA Membership (not mandatory): $30 for one year membership
                                                              $70 for two year membership

Hotel Rooms:
·
Hilton Gardens - $134 + tax/night +$8 parking fee/day (conveniently located across the street from the convention center)
·
Foundry Park Inn - $114 + tax/night
·
Holiday Inn Express - $99 + tax/night

You can reserve rooms in advance to ensure you have a room for  
      convention (try to reserve by September 24th, 2009).

When checking-in/reserving room use special group code to receive the prices listed above: Use “GANS” for Hilton Gardens; “GAN” for Holiday Inn Express; “GE1015” for Foundry Park Inn

Save some money for eating expenses (food will be provided each night, but you will need money for breakfast and lunch) and for gas to and from convention

This year the theme is “The Many Faces of Nursing”

YOU ARE NOT JUST A NURSE, YOU ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
·
This will be a year for changes, ideas, and grand adventures, so get ready!
Schedule of events:
n
Thursday: arrive get checked-in; attend keynote address at the opening ceremony; following the ceremony there will be a Toga Party with karaoke, dancing, and food.
n
Friday: Attend numerous focus sessions of your choice, mingle and network with nursing students across Georgia; later that night there will be a Masquerade Ball with food, fun, and music.
n
Saturday: Attend more focus sessions of your choice; later that night the convention will be wrapped up with the Annual Awards Banquet, where attendees will have the opportunity to win hundreds of dollars in financial awards and listen to the inspiring keynote speaker. Food is provided.
