Baron - Susie was asked to speak on the volunteer opportunities at Chestatee Regional
           Hospital here in Dahlonega. 
            *Get an application from Susie, and sign up on the sign-up sheet in Susie's box.
            *You must fill out an application.  Either turn your application into Susie's box
              on the 4th floor of the Health and Natural Sciences Building by Tuesday, or you
             can turn it in on Thursdays or Mondays in the gift shop in the hospital.
            *You must have a TB test, call 864-6136 ext.501 to schedule a testing time.
             After your test you must return to have your test read, otherwise you took the
             test for nothing, the peole at the hospital will inform you more on this aspect. 
             Tests must be taken in time for it to be read by next Friday.
     
           - A mini grant has been offered from the Student Government Organization in the
             amount of $9,000, which will be split up among different organizations.  We
             need to come up with a  charitable project so that we may receive funds to carry
             it out. 
 
Corotto - November 4th, a family member of Ms. Howerton, a faculty member here at
             NGCSU is coming to speak at 12:30 in Room 227 of the Health and Natural
            Sciences Building.  The speaker is a dentist and is a part of the US Navy.  He
            will be able to speak about oportunities both within dentistry and the militay. This
            should be an informative session and we suggest you all to try and support
            those who come to NGCSU to speak.   Pizza will be provided.
 
Christine - will be ordering biology fund raising t-shirts tomorrow, and the club t-shrits
               sometime this week.
 
Chastity - MED ending balance is $1,530.89.
 
Loretta - Dues were due today!
 
Jessica - Fall open house is Saturday, November 22, 2003.  We need volunteers to work
             the MED table.  We also need ideas on a board or a way of presenting MED to
             our incoming students next year.  One idea was if anyone has a laptop with
             wireless internet so that we can display our beautiful website that Baron has
             worked so hard on, please get in touch with Jessica or any other officer.

Baron opened the meeting with several anouncements.
- thanked Loretta and Chastity for heading up the volunteer effort for the American Red Cross Blood Drive.
-There is a drawing for the opportunity for 2 organizations to help park cars on the NGCSU campus for Gold Rush on October 18-19, 2003.  This effort will bring in a good deal of money if we are chosen to work.  There needs to be 25 volunteers for MED to be able to do this.  There will be an email sent out in order for those who do wish to help out can sign up.
- Open house for NGCSU is November 22, 2003.  MED needs to be represented to the new freshman and their parents.
-Continued efforts on speaking with Chestatee Hospital on volunteering - Suzie is working on it.
 
Loretta gave her report.
- Dues need to be in October 21, 2003.  The date was pushed back a week for convience sake.  Place you money inthe MED box NGCSU box 5894, or hand it to one of the officers.  If you write a check, write it out to MED and don't forget to put your t-shirt size in the bottom left hand corner.  If you paying with cash, adhere a sticky note with your name and shirt size.
 
Christine gave her report.
-The biology t-shirts (you know your a bio major if...) will cost $8.56 and we will sell them for $10.00, giving us a $1.50 profit.  Members of MED are responsible for selling these, so go ahead and get the word out that they are on their way!
 
Chastity gave her report.
-MED current balance is $1,555.84.
 
Dr. Corotto gave his report.
- Don't for get to check out the Hawkeye folders there is a ton of useful information at your fingertips. 
-Dr. Hitt has both pre-vet and pre-pharm information on Hawkeye.
-Baron has added two new links to the MED website.
-Watch out for Biology website changes.
-The constitution is still under update construction.

-Continue to think of ideas on how we can raise money for the American Cancer Society.

The first MED meeting of the 2003-2004 school year started off with an overview of the club as a whole by president Baron Mullis.  The mission statement was read, and past events were brought up to bring the new people up to speed with what we do during the year, such as:
   Relay for Life, Campus clean-up day, and having various speakers to come from schools and multiple professions.
    MED is used as a network between students to help with preparation of tests such as the MCAT, PCAT, DAT, and other such admission exams, and also with the admission process as a whole.
    The officers were then introduced:
Baron Mullis - President
Christine Morgan - Vice-President
Loretta Walker - Secretary
Chastity Moore - Treasurer
Jessica Rogers - Historian
Dr. Frank Corotto - Faculty Advisor
 
 Officer reports:  
     VP report - brings up an interest of having a mentoring program within the club to help out the new members.
      Sec. report - all new participants are considered trial members for the first 4 meetings, which they must attend to become official members.  Dues for all old and upcoming are $15 a semester or $25 for the whole year.  Dues include an MED t-shirt.  The biology fund-raiser t-shirts that were sold last year were a big hit and will be sold again this year. 
      Treas. report - given by sec., the ending balance is $1,371.21 
      Hist. report - given by advisor, checking on shadowing experiences with a doctor that she has previously worked with and has yet to hear a response.
      Advis. report - busy on bringing the constitution up to date and organized.
 
    Dr. Robinson was introduced. He is an Immunologist and a new faculty member here at NGCSU.
 
  New business:
Web site should be up and running next week, it has posts the constitution, mission statement, minutes from meetings, upcoming events, and links to about 20 sites (MCG, Kaplan, Emory, Mercer, ect.) 
Coordination of volunteer activities, it is vital that if you sign up to volunteer for an event that you follow through.
 
Upcoming Events:
-Tuesday September 23, 2003, Mason Thompson who is the head of admissions at Medical College of Georgia will be coming to NGCSU to speak at noon.  More details to come.
 -Tuesday September 16, 2003 is the next MED meeting at 12:30
